About Us

Popcorn Theology is a podcast with the premise that Christians are not mindless consumers, just thoughtlessly consuming media. Instead, we aim to approach entertainment with a biblical worldview. We discuss the subject matter of Entertainment, Theology, and how the two meet.

Richard

Richard is a father of five who resides in Martinsburg, WV. Apart from cohosting Popcorn Theology, Richard enjoys video gaming, playing board games (from Chess and Scrabble to Magic: the Gathering and D&D), and reading all the Reformed authors he can get his hands on. His favorite film is The Matrix and he is a shameless Shyamalan apologist.

David

David is a mix of science enthusiast, film lover, and theology nerd. He lives in Martinsburg, WV (the birthplace of Popcorn Theology) with his wife and son. His favorite films include the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Fight Club, Jurassic Park, and many entries of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As far as TV shows, he loves Breaking Bad, Scrubs, Community, and many others.

James

James (with wife and co-host Kat) haunt the dreary suburbs of Seattle, Washington with their corgi Shelley. A little bit goth mixed with a lot of geek, James enjoys comics and dabbles in writing and cosplay. He also ministers full time at Refuge Church. His favorite film is Blade Runner, and his top 10 include The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark. But he’s not obsessed with Harrison Ford. Really. He’s not.

Kat

Kat (with husband and co-host James) avoids the sun in the melancholy grey mists of Seattle. She enjoys movies, theatre, karaoke, and working toward an entirely black wardrobe. Some of her favorite films include Disney’s Robin Hood, Amadeus, & The Sting. She’s a sucker for British tings: tea, accents and animals, the latter of which explains her Welsh Corgi, Shelley.

Miles

Miles is the newest host of the podcast. He is a graduate of Gateway Seminary and a long time fan Cinemagogue then Patron Saint of Popcorn Theology. He was inspired and created his own YouTube channel Gotham City Gospel. He joined the team in 2021. Some movies he loves include Braveheart (he is a Wallace, after all), Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight.

Becky

Long-time listener and Patron Saint, Becky joined the team as Social Media Manager in 2021. She lives in Seattle with her husband and two cats. She enjoys board games, D&D, and VR. She loves the Disney empire from The Little Mermaid & Moana to Star Wars to the MCU to Pirates of the Caribbean. Her favorite directors are Christopher Nolan and Edgar Wright.
